Adit’s integration with many cloud EHRs uses a browser extension for Google Chrome. This extension allows us to sync your patient and appointment information into the Adit platform, where you can then use our all-in-one solution to manage your practice, communicate with patients, and more!
In order to use the integration, your staff must be using the Google Chrome browser to access your cloud EHR and have the Adit for Chrome extension installed and logged in to your Adit account.
The integration works using three distinct data syncs:
- an initial database sync, which pulls all of your patient and appointment data into Adit,
- an ongoing real-time sync, which pulls any changes that you make to your patient or appointment data into Adit as they are made.
- an ongoing backup sync, which pulls any changes that were missed by the real-time sync.
Adit will let you know automatically if any workstation fails its real-time sync. Every 10 minutes, our application checks to see if each workstation has transmitted data in the last 10 minutes. If so, great! If not, we show you a notification bar at the bottom of your Adit dashboard to let you know that one or more workstations are idle. You can click through that notification for more details about exactly which workstations are affected and how to reconnect them.
Often, a workstation may stop syncing because no one is working in the cloud EHR on that computer in the last 10 minutes - for example, if there are no patients in an operatory at that time, or if a staff member logs off to go to lunch. In those cases, we will show those workstations as “Idle” until they start transmitting data again. Once the workstation starts syncing on its own again, we will automatically update its status back to "Syncing" and you will not need to take any action.
Sometimes, a workstation may have a hiccup where it does not start syncing on its own again. If you have been working in your cloud EHR on a workstation for more than 10 minutes and that workstation still shows a status of Idle, we encourage you to log out of the browser extension on that workstation and then log back in to reconnect it.
To reconnect the Adit browser extension:

If you don't see the Adit icon, click the Extensions icon shaped like a puzzle piece and select Adit from the list. - Click the Logout button in the top right corner.
- Log back in with your Adit credentials.
- Select the correct location.
- Make sure the Workstation Name is correct for this workstation.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Adit Support.
