How To Use Canned Messages (Pre-Made Messages)

Canned messages are an effective way of relaying quick and effective communication to patients when sending the same message to patients throughout the day.

Creating a Canned Message

To create a canned message, start by accessing the settings within Engage, then Canned Messages at the top.



From here, you can select which location you will be creating canned messages for, then clicking the +Add button to create a new message, or clicking the edit icon  to edit an existing message.


When creating a canned response, you will type the message you would like to have populate, then assign a shortcut to it, you can have multiple messages under the same shortcut in the event you would like to categorize them. You can also add some variables such as a patient's name or the practice location for further personalization.
The maximum number of shortcuts per canned message is 10.


Using a Canned Response

To use a canned response, you can either type in the shortcut in the text box in Engage SMS, or you can also select your shortcut using the shortcuts icon in Engage SMS.  Using the icon will show how many messages are under a particular shortcut. When you've found the message you'd like to send, you can click to add the shortcut to the text message.
